Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for clinical practice. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. Provides clinical supervision and assumes operational duties of department as assigned. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • 2 years of clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in supervisory leadership
  • 2 years of experience in pediatrics with a wide range of populations

Education

  • Graduate from accredited school with degree in Communication Disorders, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapy

Certification Summary

  • No professional certifications required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in administrative functions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

(Caring for the Patient)

  • Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
  • Plans and implements effective and appropriate treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
  • Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days) I = Infant (30 days to 1 year) EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years) LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years) A = Adolescent (13-17 years) AD = Adult ALL = all

  • Supports regulatory agency readiness.
  • Monitors activities within work environment to maintain a culture of safety.

Administration/ Engagement (Engaging and Leading Professionally)

  • May serve as unit leader in absence of manager.
  • Removes or escalates barriers to appropriate leader.
  • Participates actively in and supports shared leadership and or quality councils.
  • Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff members.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in supporting budget, productivity, and resource utilization. Ie. Staff scheduling, patient scheduling, TIME management
  • Assist manager in the recruiting and on-boarding process.

Development (Fostering Clinical Knowledge)

  • Maintains own professional development and participates in educational process related to delivery of healthcare.
  • Fosters professional development of direct reports via constructive performance feedback, input, and coaching.
  • Facilitates in-services, staff meetings, and clinical guidance to staff.
