Job Description
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for performing billing, collections, and reimbursement services, ensuring all required financial and demographic information is secured. The role involves monitoring, follow-up, and research of patient accounts to maintain accurate records while providing courteous and professional customer service at all times.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all required financial and demographic information is secured.
- Monitor, follow-up, and research assigned patient accounts to maintain accurate records.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Review erroneous claims and research commercial guidelines for corrections and adjustments.
- Respond to patient and insurance company complaints, analyze charges and billing errors.
- Contact clinical departments to resolve claim issues and ensure claim integrity.
- Provide updates to management regarding errors, payer issues, and registration problems.
- Maintain active knowledge of governmental regulations for claims submission.
- Implement governmental billing changes such as Medicare OPPS.
- Research governmental requirements for claims submission.
- Collect balances owed from third-party payers in accordance with laws.
- Maintain knowledge of billing and reimbursement requirements by payer.
- Stay updated on revised billing and reimbursement practices to ensure compliance.
- Proficiency in EMR systems, such as Cerner.
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Knowledge of phlebotomy and catheter procedures.
- Billing and insurance reimbursement expertise.
- Minimum of two years' experience in billing, collections, and reimbursement verification for government or commercial insurances.
- Knowledge of hospital accounts receivable accounts.
- College education, insurance company claims experience, or healthcare billing experience may substitute for hospital experience.
This position is onsite at a Level One Trauma Hospital. The clinic works half days on Fridays, offering an attractive work schedule. The role includes annual salary increases, enhancing the overall benefits package.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
