This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), Coastal Empire Mental Health Center (CEMHC), 507 Forest Circle, Walterboro, SC 29488.

Under general supervision of the Chief of Clinical Operations, you will plan, implement, coordinate and supervise the daily operations and delivery of Adult Services and Children, Adolescent and Family services, both clinical and administrative in the Walterboro Clinic.

The Responsibilities for the Waterboro Clinic Director include:

  • Administrative Functions - Supervise the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Walterboro Clinic. Assure available patient services are provided and billed appropriately. Identify areas of process improvement, including specialized reports and patient access that result in the improvement of services provided for Adult as well as Children, Adolescent, and Family programs in the service area. Coordinate with Coordinator of Children, Adolescent and Family services as needed in relation to oversight and delivery of Children, Adolescent , and Family services in the clinic and school-based services. Deliver direct patient care.
  • Staff - Recruit and supervise all employees, either directly or indirectly in the Walterboro Clinic. Ensure that all expectations are met by staff in the Walterboro Clinic. Ensure yearly evaluations and regular supervision are provided to all clinic staff. Make sure that clinical supervision is provided regularly and documented with all supervisees. May also provide direct evidence based services to clinicians on behalf of CECMHC.
  • Community Liaison - Communicate regularly with representatives of public and private mental health, medical, and social services organizations and other partners, i.e. schools, Law Enforcement agencies in order to assure the delivery of quality services to our mutual patients. Participate in opportunities to meet with both professionals and members of the general public in order to share pertinent information about Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center and the services offered.
  • Budget - Ensure clinical services are provided and billed appropriately. Make sure provided services adhere to Quality Assurance standards.
  • Continuity of Care - Ensure continuity of care within clinic programs, between community programs, and with hospitals as specified in the OMH Continuity of Care Manual.
  • Corporate Compliance - Ensure the clinic is in conformance with SCBHDD OMH Corporate Compliance requirements and guidelines.

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC- approved sites. You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master's degree in social science and two (2) years of social service program experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a community mental health program.

Additional Requirements

  • The ability to travel as needed/appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of social service program experience
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Comments

Post hire, employees must have:

  • Thorough knowledge of principals and practices of mental social treatment services for the mentally ill.
  • Knowledge of administrative practices procedures, rules, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • The ability to plan, develop, and direct local programs for mental health care and operation of the clinic.
  • The ability to supervise mental health professionals and non-professional staff.
  • the ability to work adjusted work hours to ensure coverage and for engagement in community events.
