Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Critical Care is responsible for the overall management of the Critical Care/Telemetry units, Stroke Program, Chest Pain Center, to achieve quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and fiscal productivity. The Director is responsible for strategic and tactical plans to maximize the effectiveness of Critical Care and Cardiology Services. This includes capital and operational budget planning and management.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in conjunction with the facility administrative staff, physicians, and employees to ensure the highest level of care for patients.
  • The Director ensures that services provided meet all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Maintains positive employee relations as observed from employee feedback sources.
  • Consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with all constituencies, including other departments, patients, physicians, and the community.
  • Promotes the Code of Conduct and organizational values. Meets the leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance Program.
  • Integrates the service into the organizations primary functions.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided
  • to expand the critical care/cardiology business.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent people to provide care, including treatment or other services.
  • Patient satisfaction will meet or exceed hospital goals.
  • The department operating expenses will be between 97% and 103% of the budgeted target per statistical unit of measure.
  • The department productive hours will be between 95% and 105% of the budgeted target per statistical unit of measure.
  • Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate.
  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all department employees.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department.
  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or the medical center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing required, masters in nursing or health related area preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current Louisiana RN License.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five years related clinical experience.
  • Minimum of one year demonstrated leadership experience in the field
