Job Description
Relevant hierarchiquement de la Directrice executive, Affaires medicales Canada, le(la) Directeur(rice), Affaires medicales Vaccins et maladies infectieuses ( le Directeur ) est principalement responsable de definir lorientation strategique globale de lequipe Vaccins et maladies infectieuses (Vax/ID). En dirigeant un groupe de conseiller(eres) medicaux(ales) ainsi que d'agent(e) de liaison medicaux et scientifiques, et en travaillant en etroite collaboration avec leurs homologues commerciaux, le(la) Directeur(rice) fournira une expertise strategique afin de soutenir les objectifs de multiples domaines therapeutiques tels que les vaccins et la sante publique, ainsi que les maladies infectieuses (VIH).
Le(la) Directeur(rice) assume la responsabilite globale du developpement strategique, de lexecution et de la mise en uvre des objectifs tactiques des plans daffaires medicales pour les domaines therapeutiques des vaccins et maladies infectieuses au Canada, en alignement avec les objectifs strategiques globaux. Cela inclut des livrables tactiques tels que des etudes post-autorisation de mise sur le marche, des plans de publication et dautres activites de transfert de connaissances.
Le(la) Directeur(rice) doit adopter une approche centree sur le client/le patient, developper des relations professionnelles avec des leaders scientifiques dans diverses specialites et soutenir les efforts dans les domaines strategiques cles. Ces interactions peuvent egalement setendre aux organismes de reglementation, aux societes medicales, aux payeurs et aux associations de patients.
En interne, le(la) Directeur(rice)participera activement aux equipes strategiques cles afin de fournir des conseils medicaux et scientifiques experts ainsi quune perspective technique aux fonctions de developpement des affaires et de gestion du portefeuille pour identifier des opportunites de partenariats et des initiatives internes. Le(la) titulaire du poste partagera son expertise medicale et scientifique avec ses homologues dans dautres fonctions telles que lacces au marche/politiques, lassurance qualite, les affaires reglementaires, la recherche et developpement, les affaires juridiques et le marketing au Canada, ainsi quau sein de lorganisation mondiale.
Responsabilites principales :Responsabilite globale du developpement, de la priorisation et de la mise en uvre du plan national des affaires medicales pour les vaccins et les maladies infectieuses, visant a combler les lacunes identifiees.
Interaction avec les equipes regionales et mondiales des affaires medicales afin de defendre et dinfluencer le soutien aux initiatives canadiennes aux niveaux regional et mondial.
Collaboration avec lorganisation mondiale des essais cliniques et les laboratoires de recherche de lentreprise pour soutenir le portefeuille national detudes et continuer a attirer au Canada des etudes de developpement clinique, notamment des essais de phase II a IV, des activites de generation de donnees locales ou des evaluations cliniques ainsi que des etudes initiees par des chercheurs.
Partenariat avec lunite commerciale Vax/ID et le groupe Acces des patients/Politiques afin dassurer la gestion efficace des produits existants et le lancement de nouveaux medicaments/produits.
Profil recherche :
Diplome de M.D., Ph.D. ou PharmD (le diplome de medecine etant privilegie)
Experience variee en maladies infectieuses, immunologie ou vaccinologie.
Solide connaissance du developpement clinique et/ou des affaires medicales (dans des domaines specialises)
Minimum cinq ans d'experience aux affaires medicales dans lindustrie pharmaceutique, avec une bonne comprehension du processus de developpement des medicaments ainsi quau moins deux ans dexperience en gestion dequipe
Excellentes competences en communication ecrite et orale
Competences avancees en negociation, en presentation et en animation
Solides competences en gestion de personnel et en leadership dequipe, ainsi quen ecoute et en coaching
Sens eleve de lethique et de lintegrite. Bonne connaissance des Bonnes Pratiques Cliniques et du Code de Medicaments novateurs Canada
Capacite a travailler dans des equipes performantes et dans une organisation matricielle. Excellent esprit dequipe et capacite a collaborer dans des groupes multidisciplinaires
Capacite a etablir rapidement des relations credibles et a influencer un large eventail dintervenants (internes et externes)
Langues : francais parle et ecrit. Une bonne connaissance de l'anglais est egalement requise pour echanger avec les partenaires globaux.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs Canada, the Director, Medical Affairs Vaccines & Infectious Diseases (the Director) is primarily accountable for setting the overall strategic direction to the Vaccines & Infectious Diseases Team (Vax/ID). Leading a group of Medical Advisors and Medical and Scientific Liaisons and working in concert with their commercial counterparts, the Director will provide expert strategic input in support of the objectives of the multiple therapeutic areas, such as Vaccines & Public Health, and also Infectious Diseases (HIV).
The Director holds the overall accountability for the strategic development, execution and delivery of tactical objectives of Medical Affairs Plans for the Vax/ID Therapeutic Areas in Canada, in alignment with the overall strategic objectives. This will include tactical deliverables such as post-licensure studies, publication plans, and other knowledge transfer activities.
The Director should have a customer/patient focused approach, developing professional relationships with scientific leaders in various specialties and supporting efforts in key strategic areas. These interactions may also extend to regulatory bodies, medical societies, payer groups and patient association.
Internally, the Director will have an active participation in key strategic teams to provide expert medical/scientific advice and technical perspective to the Business Development and Portfolio Management functions in the identification of potential partnering and internal opportunities. The incumbent will share medical/scientific expertise with their counterparts in other functional areas such as Market Access/Policy, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Research & Development, Legal and Marketing in Canada, and as well throughout the global organization.
Core Responsibilities include:
Scientific leadership: Overall responsibility for the development, prioritization and delivery of the Vaccines & Infectious Diseases Country Medical Affairs Plan that addresses identified gaps.
Interactions with Regional and Global Medical Affairs to advocate & influence for support of Canadian initiatives at the regional/global level.
Interactions with Global Clinical Trials Organization and our Companys Research Laboratories Organization in support of country portfolio of studies and to continue to attract clinical development studies to Canada and Phase II-IV trials, Local Data Generation or Clinical Evaluations and Investigator-Initiated Studies.
Partner with the Vax/ID Business Unit, Patient Access/Policy Group to ensure the successful management of existing products and launches of new medicines/products.
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
M.D, Ph.D. or PharmD education (preferred MD degree)
Varied experience in either, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, or Vaccinology
Strong knowledge of Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs (in specialty areas) is required.
Minimum of five years of Medical Affairs experience, with strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development process including two years experience in people management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Strong people management and team leadership skills, as well as listening and coaching skills.
Strong ethics and integrity. Solid knowledge of Good Clinical Practices principles and of the Innovative Medicine Canada Code.
Ability to work in high performance teams, and in a matrix organization. Excellent team player; excel at teamwork in cross-functional groups.
Can rapidly build credible relationships and influence a broad range of stakeholders (Internally & externally).
Language: French language spoken and written. English language proficiency is required to interact with global stakeholders.
