Summary

Position Highlights:

Provides excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills to obtain and coordinate the patient's medical records (to include but not limited to laboratory reports, referring/recent doctors notes, history and physical, hospital discharge summary, operative and procedure reports, radiation oncology treatment plans, and chemotherapy treatment plans) pathology slides/reports/molecular testing and radiology films/reports prior to their New Patient Oncology appointment.

The Clinic Coordination Assistant effectively facilitates communication with the patient to obtain pertinent information to complete New Patient Checklist and communicate with external facilities. Continuous communication with patients, providers, nursing staff, affiliates, outside organizations and other clinical support staff. Fax requests in accordance with department guidelines to external facilities within a designated timeline. Upon receipt of records, reviews, information to appropriately categorize and import all incoming records within the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Commits to other expectations that are pertinent to the goals of the organization.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • High School / GED
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office or related healthcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience with the use of computers in a business/office environment and with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Must be a detail oriented, self-motivated, independent, and professional individual with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be proficient in working in multiple platforms throughout workday, i.e. Trace, Powerchart, Adobe Pro.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree
  • One year of experience in medical setting with oncology experience with focus on medical terminology is preferred
