Description:
Position Summary
The Main Site clinic, Mile Square's largest facility, features 47 exam rooms and offers a wide range of services, including family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, addiction treatment, midwifery, OB/GYN, optometry, infectious disease, endocrinology, and other medical subspecialties. In addition to direct patient care, the Medical Director is responsible for overseeing provider staff, including managing schedules, ensuring productivity, maintaining quality standards, and handling other provider-related duties.
Additionally, the Main Site serves as a training site for Family Medicine residents, UIC medical students, and addiction medicine fellows. It functions as a continuity clinic for the UIC Department of Family and Community Medicine residency program. The Site Medical Director plays a key role in coordinating and maintaining the preceptor schedule for both residents and addiction fellows and acting as the primary liaison between Mile Square and the residency program and the addiction of fellowship programs. The Medical Director will help coordinate and manage the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) that is located in the Mile Square Main building and managed by Family Guidance Center.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversight of provider attendance, compliance responsibilities and provider professionalism at the site.
- Assure individual provider quality of care in collaboration with the College of Medicine and College of Nursing, and the Allied Health division.
- Provide leadership and site championship in the monitoring and evaluation of site clinical quality, research, community engagement, care coordination activities and any external accreditation.
- Develop and meet productivity expectations. Must be adept at financials and metric interpretation for clinic and work with Operations to develop plans for improving site financial performance and patient satisfaction. Must perform reviews on all providers site.
- Execute Quality Improvement initiatives; manage Quality metrics for the site and create plans to improve measures as requested.
- Support a team based model of care and function as a leader in the training and implementation of such model, including provider onboarding.
- Manage provider time off to ensure consistent clinical coverage at designated site.
- Manage all organizational deadlines for learning modules, competency and clinical requirements, e.g. license, flu shots, CME, Infection Control.
- Attend all required meetings as assigned.
- Maintain all documentation, including lab results, and patient messaging to ensure leader examples for assigned team.
- Adhere to all approved MSHC/UIC policies and protocols regarding patient care standards.
- Examine patient and obtain medical history from patient, parents, guardians to prepare patient profile. Review developmental and medical history of patient.
- Participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Discuss findings and recommendations with client, parents, agencies, etc. as needed.
- Responsible for medication management (includes but is not limited to writing prescriptions, monitoring efficacy, monitoring adverse reactions).
- Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of medicine degree from an ACGME accredited medical college.
- Board certification in Family Medicine (preferred), or in Med-Peds.
- Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible.
- Current Valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
