A multi-hospital healthcare system is seeking a seasoned Chief Operating Officer to provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight. The organization operates multiple full-service acute care hospitals, each equipped with 24-hour Emergency Departments and a wide range of clinical services, including Med/Surg inpatient care, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Inpatient Eating Disorders, General Surgery, Urology, GI, Orthopedics, Surgical Oncology, Bariatric Surgery, Internal Medicine, and an extensive array of Outpatient Services. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO is accountable for the efficient administrative, financial, and clinical operations of assigned areas. The ideal candidate will combine strong operational leadership, financial acumen, a sense of urgency, and the ability to drive system-wide improvements in a collaborative environment. - Deliver day-to-day leadership and management that reflects the organizations mission, core values, and commitment to quality, compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ensure the efficient financial and clinical performance of assigned departments and service lines.
- Actively lead and participate in system-wide initiatives focused on expense reduction, operational excellence, process improvement, and quality enhancement.
- Achieve or exceed all quality metrics and performance standards within areas of responsibility.
- Develop and execute effective operational, capital, and strategic plans that support organizational growth and long-term success.
- Partner closely with the executive leadership team, medical staff, and physician leaders to meet financial, operational, and clinical objectives.
- Drive measurement and continuous improvement of internal and external processes while providing timely, accurate reporting on the operating condition of the organization.
- Build and sustain a high-performance, accountable culture; mentor and develop the leadership team.
- Represent the organization with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Bachelors degree required.
- Masters degree (MBA, MPA, or MPH) strongly preferred.
- 57 years of progressive senior-level leadership experience in a healthcare setting, with significant emphasis on clinical operations and financial management.
- Familiarity with the administration of academic clinical programs is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
- Prior oversight experience in human resources, information technology, and legal functions is highly desirable.
- Strong capabilities in organizational development, personnel management, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively with a dynamic executive team and physician leadership.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a genuine commitment to the organizations mission.
- Highly flexible and resourceful; able to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while driving clarity and results.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel between multiple facilities to fulfill essential job duties.
