Job Summary
The Supervisor, Patient Access is responsible for supervising staff and processes of Admitting and various Patient Access teams throughout UMC campuses.

Reports to:

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
Perform registration and admitting duties when short-staffed or necessary.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times.
Evaluate staff and provide timely feedback including progressive disciplinary action.
Complete performance appraisals timely.
Review and audit individual staff performance to identify training issues.
Manage staffing within the constraints of the department budget.
Assist in developing the Operating and Capital budgets.
Process all new hires timely and ensure the department checklist is completed and in the employees HR file.

Education and Experience-
Bachelors degree in a Business related field + 1 year of experience
OR
+6 years relevant work experience
+3 years customer service experience
+3 years leadership experience, leading people and/or processes

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
Medical Terminology

Skills and Abilities-
Knowledge of Medical Record Coding is helpful
Operate PC and mainframe system
Extensive knowledge in all Microsoft Outlook Applications
Analyze reports and detect operational issues
Identify problems/opportunities and design, implement resolutions
Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
Possess strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as positive interpersonal skills
Change oriented/innovative attitude
Exceptional customer service, Financial analytical ability, and exceptional management skills
required

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Interacts with patients, visitors, family members, and staff of all hospital departments within UMC

Physical Capabilities
Visual and auditory acuity required continuously. The ability to speak is required frequently. The ability to sit for extended periods is required frequently. Typing is required continuously. Lifting/carrying requirements are light but may occur moderately. The ability to walk/transport oneself in a timely manner is required frequently.

Environmental/Working Conditions
Position is indoors and not prone to hazardous materials but may experience constant changing indoor temperatures
