Patient Access Specialist - Specialty Clinic
Position Summary
The Patient Access specialist is responsible for supporting the specialty clinic by coordinating patient scheduling, managing referrals, completing prior authorizations, and verifying insurance coverage. This role ensures efficient clinic workflow while delivering excellent customer service to patients, providers, and external partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Schedule patient appointments for specialty clinic services
Coordinate incoming and outgoing referrals with providers and external organizations
Complete prior authorizations in accordance with payer requirements
Perform insurance verification to ensure eligibility and coverage accuracy
Conduct patient outreach calls related to appointments
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
Assist with clinic workflow coordination and provider scheduling needs
Serve as a point of contact for patients regarding scheduling and administrative questions
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, privacy (HIPAA), and organizational standards
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred:
Experience with referrals, prior authorizations, or insurance verification
Experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
