Position Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of assigned unit(s) to ensure high-quality, compassionate, and efficient patient care. Responsible for leading and developing staff, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains operational responsibility for nursing and health care services on the unit.
  • Promotes positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors and employees. Follows up on complaints and provides feedback. Monitors level of patient, staff and physician satisfaction.
  • Promotes collaboration regarding patient care issues with various staff levels and disciplines.
  • In collaboration with other members of the leadership team and the Education Staff, ensure staff participation in orientation, mandatory and continuing education programs and other staff development opportunities.
  • Plans unit conferences, educational endeavors, and in-service meetings for staff.
  • Ensures quality and appropriateness of care is maintained/monitored and relevant action plans are developed and implemented.
  • Utilizes objective measurement tools to evaluate the quality of nursing care delivered to patients serviced.
  • Assures appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care.
  • Assists with implementation, maintenance and monitoring of capital needs and operating budgets for patient care services area.
  • Responsible for human resource management through interviewing, selecting, orienting, precepting, scheduling, assessing educational skills, coaching, counseling, disciplining and evaluation of staff.
  • Responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and implementing appropriate customer service techniques on assigned unit.
  • Maintains optimal nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth and development, seeking out new learning experiences and maintains knowledge of current trends or nursing care practices and management methods.
  • Maintains regulatory readiness.
  • Performs other duties as required or requested.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years nursing-related experience

OR associate's degree with 5 years of nursing-related experience

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan
  • BLS Certification

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a related program
  • A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience
  • ACLS Certification
