Job Summary:

The Vice President of Operations, Anesthesiology , supports and promotes ProMedicas vision and mission. This position works in a matrixed environment, collaborating for business development. Is responsible for the operation and growth of the Anesthesiology function, to support the Surgery business line across the System. Monitors key performance indicators to drive strategic plans. Responsible for fostering a positive provider/administration relationship while collaborating with Providers to maximize operational potential and achieve strategic goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Interacts regularly with executive team, Directors of Operations and other department leaders to ensure operational alignment with acute care, service lines and system objectives.
  • As part of the Surgical Services operations team, accountable for Surgical Services KPIs and goals.
  • Develops and maintains a recruitment plan, which is approved in conjunction with COO, Acute Care Services.
  • Responsible for Anesthesia staffing plan, which is approved in conjunction with COO, Acute Care Services.
  • Collaborates extensively with inpatient and outpatient surgery leadership to maximize financial, quality and service outcomes. Seeks out performance improvement initiatives with leadership.
  • Consults with the VP of Finance and provides input to the PPG Financial Plan and is responsible for setting department budgets.
  • Continually investigates and introduces process improvement measures to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization, present suggestions to COO for consideration.
  • Partners with Human Resources to drive recruitment plan and provider retention strategy for Anesthesiology.
  • Leads provider renewal negotiations to ensure a timely and successful outcome.
  • Works directly with clinical, quality and service line leads to monitor and develop strategies addressing quality metrics, scope of practice and clinical services.
  • Identifies and analyzes opportunities for acquisition of new business; coordinates the acquisition process.
  • Drives toward clinical standardization and optimization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Bachelors degree in business administration or health care operations

Skills : Strong business acumen with demonstrated leadership experience in physician/provider relationship management, operations, and finance. Demonstrated sensitivity to physician / C suite issues and effective relationship development and problem-solving abilities. Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in anesthesiology operations, including managing both internal and external locum tenens workforce, CRNA and Physicians. In-depth knowledge of the regulatory environment impacting multi-specialty physician networks, with proven ability to establish and operate anesthesia control rooms and drive anesthesia-related efficiencies.

Years of Experience : at least 7 years of management experience or an equivalent combination of healthcare and managerial experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Masters Degree in Business or related field; M.D.; masters or doctoral degree in nursing

Skills : Experience with Anesthesiology operations; knowledge of regulatory environment as it relates to multi-specialty physician network

Years of Experience : at least five years in the Healthcare industry.
