Job DescriptionThe Medical Staff Coordinator manages and coordinates all aspects of the medical staff office and credentialing functions for two affiliated critical access hospitals. This position ensures compliance with hospital bylaws, regulatory requirements (CMS, Joint Commission, etc.), and professional standards. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between the medical staff, administration, and governing bodies of both hospitals, ensuring consistent and efficient operations.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:Credentialing & PrivilegingManage initial and reappointment processes for all medical staff and allied health professionals.Verify credentials, education, licensure, board certifications, and work history in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.Maintain accurate, confidential credentialing databases. Coordinate with department chairs and medical executive committees on privileging decisions.Medical Staff AdministrationSchedule and coordinate Medical Staff, Department, and Committee meetings across both hospitals.Prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, and follow-up documents.Assist in developing and maintaining medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.Serve as a resource for the medical staff regarding bylaws, hospital policies, and credentialing.Compliance & AccreditationEnsure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation and state regulations regarding medical staff processes.Prepare documentation for regulatory surveys and audits.Maintain records for peer review, focused/proctoring reviews, and OPPE/FPPE.Communication & CoordinationAct as the primary liaison between the medical staff, hospital leadership, and boards of trustees at the local site and between affiliate and system sites.Facilitate communication between the two hospital systems to ensure alignment of credentialing and governance standards.Assist in integrating contracted, telehealth, and locum providers as needed across both hospitals.Other DutiesPayor enrollment: Support payor enrollment, ensuring continuity and communication for successful readiness to start.Provider onboarding: Coordinate and communicate provider start dates and onboarding, working with Medical Directors, Senior Leaders, and medical staff.Medical Student and Learners: Coordinate and communicate medical student rotations, working with human resources, department leaders, and medical student academic centers.Skills required: Knowledge of medical staff operations, credentialing, bylaws, and regulatory standards.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.Submission RequirementsMinimum 2+ yrs current medical credentialing experience [Required]Minimum 2+ yrs current Medical Staff Office experience [required]Medical terminology experience [Required]Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field [preferred]Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) [preferred]Experience with CAHs, rural healthcare, or multi-site coordination [preferred]The traveler must have their own vehicle for this need
