VHC Health is seeking an experienced, visionary, and collaborative Board-Certified Hematologist/Medical Oncologist to serve as the inaugural Medical Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology at our flagship hospital campus in Arlington, Virginia.
This is a unique opportunity for a senior oncology leader to build and shape a comprehensive hematology and medical oncology program from the ground up within one of the highest-performing independent health systems in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. The ideal candidate will bring significant clinical expertise, demonstrated leadership experience, and a passion for developing innovative, patient-centered oncology services in a growing community-based academic environment.
This full-time employed leadership position combines active clinical practice with strategic program development, physician leadership, operational oversight, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Position Overview
The Medical Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology will serve as the clinical and strategic leader responsible for developing, launching, and growing VHC Health's hematology and medical oncology program.
Because this is a new and expanding service line, the organization seeks a physician leader with substantial experience in oncology program building, service-line growth, multidisciplinary care coordination, and operational leadership. This role is ideal for a physician who is energized by the opportunity to establish clinical infrastructure, recruit and mentor providers, standardize care pathways, and shape the future vision of oncology care delivery across the health system.
The Medical Director will work closely with executive leadership, hospital administration, nursing, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, infusion services, pharmacy, pathology, and support services to create a high-quality, integrated cancer program focused on exceptional patient outcomes and experience.
Qualifications:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship
Board Certification in Medical Oncology required
Eligibility for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure
Minimum of 5 years of post-training clinical oncology experience strongly preferred
Prior leadership experience as a Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Program Director, or oncology service-line leader preferred
Demonstrated experience in program development, clinical operations, or oncology growth initiatives strongly preferred
Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
