Position Summary
Enfield Public Schools seeks an experienced and collaborative Health Services Coordinator to serve as the district's clinical leader for school health services. This administrative position provides leadership, supervision, and oversight of all school nursing services while ensuring compliance with Connecticut laws, Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations, and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) school health guidelines.
The Health Services Coordinator supports the whole-child mission of the district by advancing student health, safety, and wellness, and serves as a key liaison among district leadership, nursing staff, medical professionals, public agencies, families, and community partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Student Health Services
- Serve as the district's clinical leader for school health services
- Provides direct nursing support during high-volume periods or emergency situations, as needed
- Support development and implementation of:
- Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs)
- Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
- Participate in Section 504 and Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings as needed
- Review and manage all requests for homebound tutoring
- Assist with the hiring of health services for:
- Summer programs
- Specialized programs, including ETLA and Enfield Alternative Education
- Provide guidance for appropriate referrals to community providers and agencies
Nursing Supervision & Personnel Management
- Provide direct supervision of RNs, LPNs, and district-approved substitute nurses
- Address and manage personnel issues and concerns
- Performs periodic observations and check-ins with appropriate feedback
- Conduct annual evaluations of nursing staff
- Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new nursing staff
- Plan and implement professional development
- Coordinate and lead district nursing meetings
- Ensure compliance with required district and state-mandated trainings
Staffing, Scheduling & Payroll
- Manage district-wide nurse staffing, scheduling, and coverage
- Oversee payroll in accordance with district guidelines
- Review and approve employee reimbursement requests per the nursing contract
Compliance, Policy & Medical Oversight
- Ensure district compliance with all applicable Connecticut laws and regulations, including:
- School immunization requirements
- Medication administration
- Mandated screenings
- Serve as liaison with:
- District Medical Advisor
- Local Health Department
- Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH)
- Collaborate with the District Medical Advisor to:
- Develop and annually update standing medical orders
- Review and approve clinical protocols
- Develop, revise, and implement district-wide health policies and procedures aligned with DPH and CSDE guidance
Budget, Operations & Systems
- Develop, present, and manage the annual health services budget
- Oversee:
- Medical supplies procurement and distribution
- Medical equipment maintenance and compliance
- School health electronic medical record systems
Collaboration, Training & Public Health
- Participate in wellness committees, administrative council meetings, and crisis response teams
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director and athletic trainers regarding student-athlete health/wellness and safety
- Coordinate annual staff flu vaccination clinics
- Assist with district-wide medical and emergency training (Epi-pen, seizure medications, Heimlich maneuver, bloodborne pathogens, etc.)
- Implement public health guidance related to infectious disease management and outbreak response
Salary Range
- $82,500 - $92,500 annual salary
