The System Director of Clinical Excellence and Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) provides system-wide leadership to advance clinical practice, quality outcomes, and evidence-based care delivery across Premier Health. This role collaborates closely with nursing leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement in patient care and clinical outcomes.

This leader is responsible for mentoring clinical teams, guiding strategic initiatives, and influencing organizational decisions through expertise, collaboration, and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide strategic direction, oversight, and mentorship to Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) and advanced practice clinicians

  • Supervise approximately 30 FTEs, including performance management, coaching, and professional development

  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning

Clinical Excellence & Quality Improvement

  • Lead implementation and standardization of evidence-based clinical practices

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety

  • Support clinical research and integration of best practices into care delivery

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with physicians, APPs, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams across the system

  • Serve as a liaison to align clinical initiatives with organizational strategy

  • Influence decision-making through clinical expertise and relationship-building

Strategic Planning & Program Development

  • Participate in system-level strategic planning and policy development

  • Lead development and evaluation of clinical programs and initiatives

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze clinical and operational data to assess performance and outcomes

  • Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership

  • Use data to guide decision-making and improve care delivery

Education & Professional Development

  • Partner with education teams to support ongoing clinical training and development

  • Promote evidence-based practice and professional growth among clinical staff

Education

  • Master's degree in Nursing required

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) preferred

Licensure & Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification required

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in advanced practice or clinical leadership

  • Prior experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, APRN, or similar role

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, driving quality improvement, and managing change initiatives

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing advanced practice providers or clinical teams

  • Background in healthcare strategy, policy development, or program management

  • Experience with credentialing, privileging, and regulatory compliance
