Position Overview
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and coordinating medical records and related office functions to support facility operations. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in medical recordkeeping while supporting coordination between nursing, clinical, and administrative departments to meet the needs of residents.
Responsibilities
Maintain and organize medical records, filing systems, and office procedures
Prepare correspondence and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness
Conduct medical records audits and support program compliance efforts
Collaborate with site leadership and regulatory monitors to ensure licensure and contractual compliance
Analyze reports, summarize data, and identify trends related to medical records
Manage appointment scheduling and maintain calendars
Monitor and maintain office supply inventory as directed
Assist with facility operations including resident transports, admissions, discharges, leave of absences, and deliveries
Participate in required training and professional development activities
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of medical records experience required
Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or residential settings preferred
Skills:
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail
Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders
Additional Requirements:
Valid state driver's license required
Ability to pass background screening and pre-employment requirements
Flexibility to work varied hours as needed
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Occasional bending, crouching, or climbing
Sustained attention to detail and ability to focus on tasks for extended periods
Effective verbal and written communication skills
