Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Hawai'i Sea Grant College Program, located in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $4,264 - $7,500/Mon.
DUTIES: Under direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), facilitates, coordinates, and provides general support of the Pacific Island Coastal Health Program at Hawai'i Sea Grant. Contributes to the development of the Pacific Ciguatera Network, which includes leading field collections and lab analyses focused on ciguatera poisoning. Coordinates other project duties as needed to support coastal health work. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: lab management, meeting coordination, partner support, data collection, data analysis, data synthesis, report writing, community engagement, outreach and education, and presentations.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Marine Biology, Education, or related field. (Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Marine Biology, Education, Oceanography or related field and at least two (2) additional years of experience may substitute for a Master's Degree. Experience may be gained during undergraduate degree.).
EXPERIENCE: Up to one (0-1) year of experience working on ocean health in the Pacific Islands.
KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of local needs, best practices, and current research related to ocean health. Expertise in Hawaiian or other Pacific Island culture, language, and stewardship practices.
ABILITIES & SKILLS: Proficient ability to coordinate among partners and colleagues, facilitate collaboration, support lab operations, and provide general support and program management. Ability to work independently. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds and be a strong swimmer, to perform field and lab work.

Experience working on ciguatera in the Pacific Islands.
