Crestview Youth Academy in Crestview, Florida, is a secure Youth Academy serving males ages 13 to 17, delivering trauma-informed care across mental health and substance abuse needs.

The program combines clinical therapy, education, restorative justice, therapeutic recreation, and life skills training. Youth typically remain in care based on individualized goals, participating in individual, family, and group therapy; victim impact awareness; vocational and pre-vocational preparation; and enrichment activities such as art, music, and recreation. Small group living units and licensed dietitian-managed meals support emotional stabilization and reintegration planning.

About the Role

The Health Services Administrator - Charge RN provides leadership, oversight, and direct support for the facility's medical department. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to youth while maintaining compliance with all customer, licensing, and regulatory requirements.

This position oversees medication management, nursing procedures, documentation, staff training, and health-related compliance while collaborating with leadership to support continuous improvement in care and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direction, supervision, and direct service within the facility's medical department

Ensure compliance with all applicable customer, state, and regulatory healthcare requirements

Oversee medication management, sick call procedures, and related documentation

Administer medications as prescribed by the physician

Ensure all medication oversight systems, forms, and documentation are completed accurately

Monitor, evaluate, and determine appropriate levels of care for youth

Ensure completion of all required admission and release nursing procedures, including screenings, health histories, and physical assessments

Complete and submit required statistical reports

Support resident care and department operations through administrative and clerical duties

Ensure immunizations are completed and documented as required

Prepare and deliver staff trainings related to medication administration, side effects, nuisance diseases, hepatitis A and B, universal precautions, AIDS, seizures, and other health-related topics

Collaborate with leadership and performance improvement efforts through periodic reviews and compliance monitoring

Other Duties Include

Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth

Participate in required training and development activities

Assist with development of required budgets

Report any acts, incidents, or conditions that suggest inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships

Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents in accordance with guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must hold a current license as a Registered Nurse

Nursing background must include clinical nursing, nursing supervision, nursing education, nursing management, or public health nursing

Minimum of three years of experience as a professional RN

Strong understanding of group leadership, group dynamics, and experiential education

Records management and Medicaid process experience preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills required

Physical Demands

Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable

Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed

Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state

Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams.

Other Requirements

Must maintain a valid state driver's license

Must meet state criminal background check requirements

Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings
