Western Horizon Living Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for our 40-bed skilled nursing facility. This leadership role supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily clinical operations while also functioning as the facilitys Infection Preventionist and Quality Nurse .
The ADON plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include supervision of nursing staff, coordination of the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) , and leadership within the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program in accordance with CMS and state regulations (42 CFR 483) .
Key Responsibilities Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)- Assist the Director of Nursing in the overall management and supervision of nursing services.
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff, including mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
- Participate in staff scheduling, staffing coordination, and competency validation.
- Conduct rounds to monitor resident care, ensuring adherence to care plans and clinical standards.
- Support hiring, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education of nursing personnel.
- Serve as acting DON in their absence.
- Promote effective communication among interdisciplinary team members.
- Assist with policy development and implementation consistent with regulatory standards.
- Lead and manage the facilitys Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) in accordance with CMS 483.80 , CDC, and state guidelines.
- Conduct ongoing infection surveillance, data collection, analysis, and trending of healthcare-associated infections.
- Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Provide staff education and competency validation related to infection prevention practices.
- Oversee outbreak investigation and response, including coordination with public health authorities.
- Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives in collaboration with the medical director and pharmacy consultant.
- Ensure compliance with employee health requirements, including immunizations and exposure follow-up.
