SUMMARY
Assist the Director of Nursing in maintaining high standards of patient care and assure that all policies and procedures, state regulations and guidelines are practiced and adhered to in a timely manner. Overseeing the Medicare program and assure compliance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and direct medical care and assistance to all residents in the healthcare facility
Supervisor for all nursing staff
Responsible for Quality Management monitoring
Attend mandatory in services and other required staff meetings
Responsible for addressing family, resident and employee concerns
Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with government regulatory policies and procedures
Act as interim DON as assigned
Assist charge nurses as needed in carrying out assignments
Responsible for "Nurse-on-Call" duty and cover staffing call outs as needed
Routine rounds of the facility as designated
Ensures pharmacy consultant recommendation reports are addressed in a timely manner
Coordinate and comply with staff-related training
Arranges in-service education for nursing staff
Coordinates and maintains an in-service file on each employee, noting dates and subjects completed
Review staff schedule to ensure scheduling requirements are met
Participate in admission decisions
Ensure timely assessment and date submission of MDS
Monitor documentation to support MDS and Medicare claims (nursing and therapy)
Ensure physician orders meet Medicare guidelines for skilled services
Ensure PPS policies, procedures and regulations are being met using web site resources to keep current and access information.
Participate 'in care planning process
Maintain up-to-date care plans on all residents residing in skilled nursing and assisted living
Advise and effectively communicate the plan of care to nursing staff and ensure that the plan is being followed
Stay current on Medicare and state required MDS and RAI policies, procedures and regulations
Other Medicare duties as necessary and appropriate
Other duties as assigned
Adhere to Corporate Compliance as stated in the Standards of Conduct
Adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding the Protected Health Information (PHI) of the residents and employees

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly/indirectly supervise all employees in the Nursing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree (A. A.) and 3 to 5 years experience in a Long Term Care Facility.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Registered Nurse in this state. Must have CPR Certification
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
Employees are expected to arrive at work on their scheduled days ready to work. CYPRESS GLEN employees are expected to be part of a team and each team member is critical to getting the work getting done in an efficient and effective manner.
No Call/No Show: An employee who is absent from work without notification (no call/no show) will receive a written warning. A second no call no show will result in termination. Two consecutive days no call/no shows will be considered a voluntary resignation.
Excessive Tardiness: An employee who has excessive tardiness will also be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Unexcused absence is absence from work without approval from one's supervisor and/or without notification (i.e., no-call/no-show, unpaid absence). Tardiness, leaving early or an absence will be determined as unexcused at the discretion of management.
