The Assistant Director of Nursing will assist in overseeing nursing operations within a correctional healthcare setting, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and compliance with facility policies and healthcare regulations. This role will support the Director of Nursing in supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care, and managing clinical workflows. The Assistant Director of Nursing will also contribute to policy development, staff training, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Schedule: Alternating Shifts 2-10 and 8-4 (varies)
Location: Richmond City Justice Center
Pay Rate: Based on experience
How YOU can Make an Impact:
Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating all nursing services to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care in compliance with MEDIKO, facility, state, and federal regulations.
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing (DON) to review and maintain clinical protocols, patient care standards, and nursing workflows.
Support the coordination of nursing education, in-service training, clinical competencies, and staff development activities.
Monitor nursing practices and program performance; recommend and implement changes to improve efficiency, compliance, and quality of care.
Lead or support training, infection control, quality improvement, and safety initiatives in partnership with the DON, Health Services Administrator (HSA), Corporate QA team, and facility leadership.
Assist with the development and enforcement of nursing and infection control policies and procedures; participate in CQI and other required committees.
Help recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate licensed nursing staff and contractors to ensure adequate coverage and clinical performance.
Review pharmacy utilization for adherence to the established formulary and cost-effectiveness.
Contribute to short- and long-term planning, including strategic goals, staffing models, and departmental performance benchmarks.
Support periodic analysis of nursing operations, staffing, and productivity in collaboration with the DON and facility administration.
Operate standard medical and office equipment in support of clinical operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What we Ask of YOU:
A Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare industry, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role is preferred.
Proven experience in managing healthcare operations in a correctional healthcare or similar regulated environment is highly preferred.
Experience with regulatory compliance, including familiarity with NCCHC, ACA, and other healthcare standards relevant to the correctional setting is preferred.
A track record of successfully driving operational efficiencies, improving patient care, and managing budgets effectively.
Certification in Healthcare Management (e.g., FACHE, CPHQ, CHC, or similar), Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) or other relevant professional certifications is preferred.
Valid state licensure or certification in a healthcare-related field (if applicable).
Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved), if role is located in a correctional facility.
